Swing Time

Could this little girl be any happier than on a swing???

3 musketeers

Steve has 2 really good friends that he grew up with, Ryan and Joe. Growing up, Joe lived on the same street as Steve and Ryan just lived around the corner. Back in 2006 Ryan announced that his wife Angela was pregnant with their 2nd child and shortly after we announced we were pregnant and then Joe announced his wife Katrina was pregnant with their first as well. We couldn't believe we were all going to have babies in 2007 and they were going to be months apart. So last year Ryan's son Elliot was born in early March, then Esther was born in April and then Joe's son Jordan was born in late August. Well Joe is visiting for the holiday and we all got together yesterday and it was SO much fun. All the kiddos got along and played together so well. I think all the men look so cute with their little ones, I couldn't resist sharing. Ryan's 3 year old Ben shares one of the pics as well. ~ Kin

Good friends

Steve's childhood friend Joe was in town from Nebraska with his wife, Katrina and their new little boy, Jordan. I was our first time meeting Jordan and I think Esther is in LOVE!! We went to that park and had SO much fun.

Cash Cab

Ever since we had Esther and because of the writer's strike, we are watching less TV (which is really a good thing). The 2 shows we did like to watch as a couple were on hiatus (Heroes and Pushing Daisies), so we weren't watching that much in the evening. Well we got a DVR (like a Tivo, but from Time Warner Cable) about a year or so ago and let's just say, once you have one there's no going back (you can't watch TV any other way again). So because of only watching tv when Esther goes down for the night, we record a lot, so we can watch when we want and also fast forward through the commercials (awesome and makes the shows shorter). Steve and I also are very different when it comes to favorite shows..he likes watching how things are built and made and I love HGTV and cooking shows, but there is one show (besides Dirty Jobs) we TOTALLY agree on: Cash Cab. Have you seen it? It's like Jeopardy (except a little easier), but it takes place in a New York City cab and we are completely addicted. Ben Bailey is the host and he just picks up people hailing a cab on the streets of NY and then they answer general knowledge questions while going to their destination. 3 strikes and they are out and they have 2 helps: a phone shout-out (where they call someone they know for help) or a street shout-out (where they ask random strangers on the street for help). I just noticed that we have over 10 Cash Cabs recorded and it seems like we are always watching it in the evenings when we sit down to relax. A new season just started up and I am learning SO much as well. So hey, whoever says TV is mindless hasn't watched Cash Cab. It's on the Discovery Channel and on in the mornings at 10 and in the evenings at 6. Check it out, you may just learn something! ~ Kin

How big is Esther?

Buddies

The other day my best bud JoAnna stopped by and she had her 2 youngest with her, Micah and Seth. Well Micah was SO sweet with Esther. We were out front and I was helping Jo load some things in her car and I put Esther down on the front lawn for a second and Micah went and got a book out of the car and went over and starting reading and sharing it with her. It was SO cute. He is so good with little kids and Esther took right to him. I think a new friendship has been born. ~ Kin

Almost comical

Ok, so you know that I had my toe nail removed almost 3 weeks ago, well last week I experienced even more pain....I broke my foot...THE SAME FOOT!! Last Thursday, I walked into our new ottoman. I guess I misjudged the distance between the couch and the ottoman and just walked right into it. It hurt really bad, but my little toe didn't seem like it was displaced or anything, so I thought it was just bruised but not broken. But I woke up Friday morning in SO much pain that I thought I might have broken it. So my in-laws took Esther for the morning (which of course they did gladly) and my dad drove me to Urgent Care (I sure couldn't drive). So after waiting 2 hours and some xrays, it was determined: I had broken the bone beneath my little toe. There is really nothing they can do for it, (it's not like they can cast it), just told me to keep it iced and stay off it (easier said than done with a crawling 10 month old). Also I was just off my feet for over a week due to my toe nail....so basically I had 3 good days and then BAM! As much as it hurts, it's almost comical...I mean come on...the same foot??? What are the chances??? ~ Kin
